As the current Chairman of the Board of Peace Hills Insurance, I have a great sense of pride in reaching this incredible milestone; our 40th year in business. The road was not always easy, but the resilience shown by the people who have led this company to success is admirable. The visionaries who started Peace Hills wanted to create an alternate avenue for growing shareholder wealth, and I know that they would be incredibly satisfied with how that foresight has played out.
This year marked the height of our underwriting results over the company’s existence. The lows that we have overcome, such as large catastrophic losses, have taught us how to be strong through adversity and to be grateful when we achieve success.
We have experienced exceptional growth over the past few years and 2022 was no exception. The size this company has reached, from writing its first policy not so long ago in 1982, has surprised and elated the owners. We are thankful to the dedicated Broker partners we have, some of whom have been supporting the company for all of its 40 years. Over this time, there have been many people who have demonstrated devotion to our success and a steadfast belief in the purpose for which this company exists.
The most valuable asset the company holds are the amazing employees who work so closely with Brokers and vendors to deliver a service and product that can be relied upon. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to express gratefulness to all the individuals, both past and present, who were instrumental in building and maintaining an incredible business over the past 4 decades, one which the shareholder, Samson Cree Nation, is very proud of.
The remarkable growth and increasing capital strength have put the company in a healthy strategic position to expand the horizon and dream even bigger for the next 40 years. The best may be yet to come. Congratulations!
